My love for video editing started in High School. I studied in an art and business centric school and so my friends and I started documenting portions of our school year including events and random skits. I started playing with Windows Movie Maker then Sony Vegas and then made the jump to Premiere Pro. I didn't intend to take on video editing as a career but when I was applying for college, Filmmaking hit the perfect spot between passion and work for me. It turned out great! If I could do it for free, I would. But I have to pay the bills, you know!
I would say it's a perfect balance between flashy and minimalist. I always lean towards the quality of how a video is communicated so sometimes less is more, other times a bit of fluff works!
I specialize on talking head, interviews, and educational videos. If you have a video that seems bland and it's just you talking in front of the camera and you need to spice it up, I'm your go-to video editor. I also do vlogs and tech videos so if you're in that niche, I'm right up your alley. I am also open to documentary style YouTube videos and film projects.
It usually starts with a call. I get a general idea of what the client likes and I break each project down into smaller chunks wherein we can talk about any potential needs, ideas, and issues. If a call is not possible, I like to be able to see what the client has done or produced so far to see if any of our styles match and the rest goes from there.
I consider myself software agnostic. I've used FCP, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Davinci Resolve, and Adobe Audition, in a multitude of projects. I even learned Descript to be able to keep up with the times! Oh yeah, did I mention I started learning video editing using Sony Vegas in High School? So yeah, that's me.
